Cruising Table Rock Lake on the Showboat

Showboat Branson Belle

Now THIS is hokey - and it's one of the best recent pictures we have of us!

Every road into Branson has at least one billboard promoting the Showboat Branson Belle and its show headliner, Todd Oliver with his two homely dogs. It struck me as hokey, like so many attractions in tourist towns. But I love seeing a place from the water, especially when the day moves from evening to sunset to star-studded sky. And I was eager to cruise on Table Rock Lake.

Friday evening, we set sail on the dinner cruise. The day was gorgeous with clear skies and soft breezes. Our balcony seats on Captain’s Row overlooked the main dining room below, with an unobstructed view of the stage. The tender 18-ounce rib eye steak was prepared exactly as ordered and the dessert was to die for. And we thoroughly enjoyed our conversations with the couples dining on either side of us. Before the show began, we strolled along the deck to admire the view and fiery sunset.

The lively, talented Showstoppers kept my eyes riveted to the stage when they performed parts of 29 songs in 10 minutes, complete with costume changes. The best, though, was Todd Oliver’s hysterical performance with his talking dogs. I laughed until my sides ached!

We had a delightful, memorable, entertaining evening – nothing hokey about it. But if someone tells me they thought it was hokey, I’ll have to face the truth . . . if the Showboat Branson Belle’s dinner show is hokey, then I love hokey!

  1. What a great picture of you two. You look like movie stars! We enjoyed this show in Branson with my sister and brother-in-law a few years ago. It was a fun evening. Thanks for bringing back fond memories.

Hokey looks good on you. :-)

  3. That’s great to hear that you had a good time and you didn’t think Showboat was hokey at all! It’s really a great show, and a way to experience something really different in the area.

Also, the next time you visit you might want to check out the Branson Scenic Railway, they offer regular train rides and meals as well.

Glad you had fun in town!
