Cook cuts a potato into one continuous ribbon – Ribbon Potatoes
You can’t just eat barbecued chicken and ribs at Paducah’s Barbecue on the River & Old Market Days festival! You’ve gotta eat fried food too!
Stands sell fried pie…fried Oreos…fried Twinkies… fried ice cream…fried wild garlic mushrooms…and even fried dill pickles! Locals devour ribbon potatoes piled high on dinner-size plates. (Ribbon potatoes are made from an Idaho potato cut in one continuous slice, then deep-fried. Folks usually top them with salt and catsup.)
Yup. The festival offers lots of deep fried food options. And they’re finger-lickin’ good!

Fried Oreos and fried pickles? How hilariously revolting. I think I’ll stick with the barbecued ribs, thank you very much… and maybe a slice of un-fried pie?
